This report highlights the stories of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls which have taken place over a period of three decades. Amnesty International is concerned that Canadian officials are not living up to their obligations toward indigenous women. Many of the preventive measures identified by past government commissions and inquiries have not been implemented. Meanwhile longstanding patterns of social and economic inequity continue to drive indigenous women and girls into situations like the sex trade where the risk to their lives is that much greater.
